What we check

Four records that decide whether someone can fake your email

  • MX: which service receives your email, so the fixes match your provider.
  • SPF: the list of services allowed to send email as your domain, and whether it stays under the 10-lookup limit.
  • DMARC: what receiving servers should do with email that fails SPF and DKIM: nothing, spam folder or reject.
  • DKIM: a digital signature on your outgoing email. We look for it under the names your provider normally uses.

Frequently asked questions

What does this check look at?

Only public DNS records for your domain: where your mail is delivered (MX), which services may send as you (SPF), what receiving servers should do with fakes (DMARC), and whether we can find a DKIM signing key. It does not log in to anything or read any email.

Is this a full security audit?

No. It’s a quick check of your domain’s public email settings. Mailbox security, such as multi-factor sign-in, filtering and staff training, needs a closer look. Our free IT assessment covers those.

Why does DKIM say "couldn’t confirm"?

DKIM keys are published under names chosen by your email provider, and some providers use custom names. We try the usual ones; if none match, DKIM may be off or may simply use a name we can’t guess.

What happens to the email address I enter?

We send it to Mayertech along with your domain and results so we can follow up if you’d like help. We don’t store it on this website or add you to a mailing list. See our privacy policy.
